A visual campaign for a sharp, tender play about queer lives, migration and intimacy under pressure.
The P Word follows Zafar, who has fled homophobic persecution in Pakistan to seek asylum in the UK, and Bilal, a Londoner worn down by Grindr, expectation and the complexities of being a brown gay man. Their lives collide in Waleed Akhtar’s sharp, emotionally direct play about intimacy, migration, queer identity and the pressure of a hostile environment.
For Vienna Theatre Project’s production, I created the poster alongside an interview trailer, a music teaser for YouTube and social media, and a press photo series. The work needed to carry the production across different contexts: a clear key visual for the show, moving material that could introduce its atmosphere online, and photographs that gave press and promoters a stronger sense of its people and tone.
The goal was to make the campaign feel open and alive without softening what the play is willing to confront.
